Take Action

Take the challenge to take action, multiply the message, multiply the good.

IDEA 1: Host a Screening of Without A Fight
The best way to keep Without A Fight’s story alive is to share it with as many people as possible. We encourage you to host your own public screening of the film. Please email admin@carolinaforkibera.org with your interest and CFK staff can help you get started.

IDEA 2: Make a Donation to support the Champions League Tournament
Each year, more than 5,000 girls and boys participate in CFK’s Annual Champions League Tournament and other peace and leadership focused activities. Help us to keep the league alive by donating now.

IDEA 3: Donate a Soccer Ball to Kibera
One World Futbol, a non-profit partner of Carolina for Kibera’s, will donate one soccer ball for every ball you buy to communities in need through their “Buy One, Give One” program. Visit their website at http://www.oneworldfutbol.com/shop/one-world-futbol/ and scroll down to the “Campaigns” box at the bottom of the page. There you can give a ball directly to Kibera through Carolina for Kibera’s “Buy One, Give One” Campaign page. Don’t need a ball for yourself? No problem! You can donate as many soccer balls as you like through their “Give One” program.

IDEA 4: Organize a Fundraising Event
The power of sports to inspire social change and unite people from diverse ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds is one of the film’s major themes. Consider organizing a community or school-wide soccer tournament to raise funds for CFK. You could tailgate before or after the match to raise more money and include spectators in the event. Other fundraising event ideas include hosting a dinner featuring Kenyan dishes; a movie night for friends and community members; organizing a 5K run or soccer tournament and donating the sponsorship money to CFK.

Need some help? Use CFK's peer to peer campaign site to implement your creative idea!

IDEA 5: Have a Wedding or Birthday for Kibera
In lieu of wedding or birthday presents that may end up just sitting on your shelf, consider asking friends and families to give donations to CFK. You can donate to CFK through their website, or set up your own fundraising page here.

IDEA 6: Share CFK's Work on Social Media
Do your friends know about CFK? Why not tell them? Follow us on Facebook or Twitter-- and share with your friends!

IDEA 7: Learn more about how CFK began
Rye Barcott, CFK's co-founder wrote It Happened on the Way to War, a beautiful memoir that juxtaposes his co-founding and leadership of Carolina for Kibera with his service in the Marine Corps in Iraq, Bosnia, and the Horn of Africa. This award winning book is a must read for anyone with interest in international development.

IDEA 8: Take A Bag to Kenya
Prohibitively high shipping costs and unpredictable customs fees make shipping much needed donated supplies such as sports equipment, feminine sanitary pads and books very difficult. If you or someone you know is travelling to Nairobi and can carry some donated supplies, please contact us at admin@carolinaforkibera.org or 919-962-6860!

IDEA 9: Send a Holiday Gift
Every year around holiday time, CFK accepts and sends gently used/new soccer equipment (cleats, jerseys, socks, cones, balls, etc.), jump ropes, cameras, phones (SIM-card compatible!), and other goods to Kibera. Sign up for CFK’s newsletter to receive updates and details on how and when to give.

IDEA 10: Buy a DVD
We have DVD's available for purchase. Please email admin@carolinaforkibera.org or call 919.962.6860 to request your copy.
